Janet Hoover, Professor of Sociology and Anthropology, as well as Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Kent State, served as chairperson of the May 4th Observance Committee in 1979. Her papers include materials concerning the planning and staging of the commemoration, as well as background information on previous commemorations and administrative responses, including the University Commission to Implement a Commitment to Non-Violence (UCICNV) also known as the Kegley Commission. Ms. Hoover served on this committee as a faculty member in 1970.
