Historical Note

The papers of John L. Boonshaft were received by the Department of Special Collections & Archives at the same time as the Babar artifacts in 1997.

Scope and Content

The materials donated approximately cover the years 1984-1997. The first series covers the court trial over Babar copyright. The second series includes updated copies in chronological order of both the appraisal and inventory of the collection. The third series is a list of references, media and book, that either cite or are writings on Babar. The fourth series is a miscellaneous array of materials, including correspondence not related to the direct purchase of Babar memorabilia. The last two series are mainly correspondence and billing statements relating to the purchase of Babar memorabilia and literature.
