Biographical Note

This collection was donated by Margaret Cowles Ticknor in 1975. Allen Orrin Fuller (1831-1906), son of Ira Fuller was an ordained Baptist minister and medical doctor. In 1863 he married Cornelia Rachel Cowles (1836-1932), granddaughter of Giles Hooker. Their daughter Jeanette Fuller (1868-1952) attended the Lake Erie Seminary and was active in the Women's Christian Temperance Union (W. C. T. U.). As a W. C. T. U. organizer and lecturer she traveled to Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Kentucky, and Michigan. Related collections are: the Betsy Mix Cowles, Papers, Lysander Mix Cowles, Papers, Giles Hooker Cowles, Papers, and Myra G. Cowles, Papers. Myra was a cousin and contemporary of Jeanette Fuller.

Scope and Content

This collection is primarily composed of correspondence to and from Allen Orrin, Cornelia, and Jeanette Fuller. Other items include lectures and writings by Allen Orrin Fuller, W. C. T. U. information and miscellaneous items, including a few photographs relating to the Fuller family. The contents of the collection has been microfilmed. Microfilm reels are housed in Box 3.
