Biographical Note
This collection was received from Margaret Cowles Ticknor, March 1, 1976. Myra
(1878-1966) was the sister of Margaret Ticknor's father, Howard Cowles; grand-niece
of Betsy Mix Cowles; great-granddaughter of Giles Hooker
Cowles and cousin and contemporary of Jeanette Fuller. For many years Myra taught
under the auspices of the American Missionary School in Puerto Rico and several
rural schools in the South.
Scope and Content
Correspondence from the early twentieth century makes up most of the collection.
Other items include a journal, teaching materials, and miscellaneous pamphlets.
